Description
The third edition of èVRgreen Week, which takes place from 3 to 8 June 2025, aims to involve citizens (adults, youth, children, and groups of vulnerable people) on the themes of climate change, circular economy, and the transformation of the urban environment. The initiative is sponsored and organised together with the University of Verona and the Municipality of Verona.
Verona is a transforming city, rich in history, natural areas, and production facilities. It is located in one of the European areas with the highest concentration of particulates. Rethinking the city and its functions from a sustainability and circular economy perspective is crucial for better urban development that takes into account the physical and psychological well-being of citizens.
The aim of the project is to directly involve the citizens of Verona, putting them in contact with examples of good practices implemented by entities already active in the area. The meetings organised by cultural institutions, such as universities and museums, aim to inform citizens on the state of health of the city and on the ongoing initiatives which monitor urban nature.
With the participation of universities and local associations, the programme of events aims to bring more and more people closer to the world of science and the cutting-edge themes of the near future.
èVRgreen Week includes various events such as conferences, participatory design workshops, seminars, and roundtable discussions proposed by various departments of the University of Verona, workshops for children and adults on good practices of separate waste collection and recycling, swap parties, citizen science excursions for mapping urban biodiversity coordinated by the Natural History Museum in collaboration with the main environmental associations of the area, and a public assembly with citizens on the transformation of urban space.
