Description
Can the things we no longer need find new owners instead of ending up in landfills?
'The great circle of things: swap, don’t shop!' is an initiative promoting the circular economy and conscious consumption, allowing residents to give items a second life, reduce waste, and curb excessive purchasing.
A specially designated area in the local library will be open during its regular hours for participants to bring and exchange books, puzzles, games, plants, toys, and other small household items that are still in good condition but no longer needed. Instead of being discarded, these items will find new owners and continue to be useful.
The event aligns with the principles of the circular economy, emphasising that extending the lifespan of items is a practical solution for reducing waste and conserving natural resources. By lowering the demand for new products, this initiative also helps decrease energy consumption, reduce emissions, and improve air quality.
'The great circle of things: swap, don’t shop!' is more than just an exchange - it’s about changing how we think about consumption. It demonstrates that reuse is valuable, sustainable, and a great alternative to unnecessary purchases.
This event is organised as part of the LIFE project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored.'
