Description
In cooperation with the Agricultural Exhibition of Ierapetra, the Europe Direct of the Region of Crete will organise a participatory workshop on agriculture and food. Farmers and producers from Crete will be invited to discuss the opportunities for a smoother transition of the agricultural sector to a circular economy, based on the recommendations made in the 'Vision for Agriculture and Food' by the European Commission.
The participatory workshop will be based on the World Café methodology. Farmers and producers from Crete will then have the opportunity to present their ideas to Greek members of the European Parliament and representatives from local and regional authorities. The results of the workshop will be sent to the Commissioner responsible for the Common Agricultural Policy, and to the European Parliament's Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI), so that the views of Cretan producers can be taken into account and heard in the implementation of the new Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union.
Target audience: farmers, livestock farmers and producers in Crete.
The main objective of the workshop is to give voice to the farmers and producers in Crete and to let them co-create a new vision for agriculture, based on their own experiences and ideas on circular economy to their sector, making them feel part of the European demos.
