Description
Can books have a second life? Absolutely. The event 'We give books wings,' organised in cooperation with the Arka Foundation, combines the promotion of reading with the principles of the circular economy.
An eco-friendly picnic, book exchange and educational workshops will allow participants to discover how reusing items, including books, fits into the model of sustainable development. The event highlights the importance of keeping products in circulation and encouraging responsible consumption. Instead of sitting forgotten on shelves or ending up as waste, books can find new owners.
The book exchange will provide a space where residents can swap or purchase second-hand books, supporting the idea of waste reduction. At the same time, eco-workshops for children will teach how to care for the environment and use natural resources responsibly. Outdoor games and interactive ecological activities will help children learn about the circular economy, recycling, and ways to reduce resource consumption in an engaging way.
For adult participants, a dedicated educational booth will be available, offering information on the circular economy, the impact of recycling on air quality, and practical solutions for reducing environmental impact.
We give books wings aims to show that recycling and the circular economy apply not only to plastics and glass, but also to everyday objects that can have a second life. The event will also encourage reflection on the impact of paper production on forests and air quality, inspiring more conscious use of natural resources.
This event is organised as part of the LIFE project 'Silesia. Blue sky restored.'
