Description

What happens to waste after it leaves our homes? How does a Municipal Selective Waste Collection Point (PSZOK) operate, and why is proper waste management so important for the environment? The 'EcoCycle in the City', organised in collaboration with Primary School No. 2 in Czeladź, offers students a first-hand experience of how the circular economy works in practice.
During their visit to the PSZOK in Czeladź, students will explore how waste is sorted and processed after being brought in by local residents. They will learn about recycling rules, discover which materials can be reused, and understand the special handling required for certain types of waste.
The trip will also include discussions on the impact of waste on air quality. Students will learn why illegal waste burning releases harmful substances into the air and how proper sorting and recycling can help reduce pollution and protect the environment.
This hands-on educational experience will help shape eco-friendly habits among young participants. 'EcoCycle in the City: a walk full of discoveries' will allow children to understand that every item thrown away has a life cycle beyond the trash bin - if properly sorted, it can become a valuable resource for reuse instead of waste.
This event is organised as part of the LIFE project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
