Description

This workshop, organised by the EPR Club, will delve into the crucial role of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes within the framework of the upcoming Circular Economy Act. The event aims to serve as a dynamic forum for discussion among key stakeholders. Participants will explore the opportunities and challenges associated with leveraging EPR as a key instrument to foster a circular, competitive, and resilient economy across the EU single market.
Building on the EPR Club’s established mission of bringing together stakeholders to discuss EPR policies and foster good practices, this workshop will focus specifically on how the Circular Economy Act can effectively utilise EPR mechanisms to promote circular business models. The agenda will include expert insights from various perspectives, including an overview of EPR’s achievements, limitations, and future potential. It will also examine practical experiences of EPR implementation at local and regional levels to enhance the quality and quantity of separate collection, and explore strategies for designing EPR schemes that prioritise reuse, including funding models, targets, and support for social enterprises.
Furthermore, the workshop will address how EPR currently supports recycling activities and identify areas for improvement, with a specific focus on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) sector.
The event will take place in hybrid format, hosted at the ACR+ offices for a limited number of in-person participants and available online, on 6 June.
