Electricity is one of the foundations of the modern economy. It powers our homes, schools, transport and industry. During the workshop 'Green transformation starts at school: energy, nature and the economy' students will learn where the energy we use every day comes from and how the way it is produced is changing in a world striving to protect the environment.
In the first part of the meeting, participants will learn about the basic issues related to the energy transition. They will find out why many countries are currently investing in renewable energy sources and what importance these actions have for economic development, air quality and the health of residents.
During the presentation, students will see examples of changes taking place in industrial regions that are developing new sectors of the economy based on clean technologies. They will also see how the development of renewable energy creates new jobs and contributes to the emergence of innovative technological solutions.
Particular attention will be devoted to the relationship between the economy and the natural environment. Students will learn that decisions concerning energy production have a direct impact on air quality, the condition of ecosystems and the quality of life of city residents.
The second part of the event will take the form of an interactive educational competition. In the large-format game 'Clean energy', teams of students will make decisions concerning the energy development of the region. The task of the participants will be to find a balance between economic development and environmental protection.
The workshops show that the future of the economy depends on the ability to combine technological innovation with the responsible use of natural resources. Thanks to the knowledge they gain, students will see that the energy transition is one of the key processes shaping the future of the world.
The event is implemented as part of the LIFE project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
