Description
Soil health represents one of the key factors in promoting water resilience in farmland. Due to a higher content of organic matter, healthy soils have an increased capacity to store water, thus lowering the impacts of droughts and floods on agriculture.
As of 2023, the Scientific and Technical Committee of the international “4 per 1000” Initiative has been producing the new Soil Carbon Science Webinar series which explores the latest developments surrounding the topic of soil health. The upcoming webisode "How to Measure Soil Health" on June 6 will focus on the latest scientific findings and essential knowledge for identifying crucial soil health indicators.
The webinar will feature two distinguished scientists in this field. Dr. Cristine Morgan from the Soil Health Institute will shed light on a select set of cost-effective and responsive indicators for soil health assessment. Meanwhile, Dr. Iêda de Carvalho Mendes from Embrapa Cerrados will share insights from Brazil's large-scale soil health evaluations, focusing on the role of soil enzymes.
The discussion will be led by Dr. Beata Madari (Embrapa) while Dr. Budiman Minasny (University of Sydney) will moderate the session. The webinar will take place on June 6 2024 at 10 PM (UTC +2) and will be open to everyone.
