Description
This event explores the in intricate relationship between water resilience and healthy nature in catchment areas, drawing insights from the experiences of the natural mineral water and spring water sector. The natural mineral water and spring water sector has understood for years that, by safeguarding ecosystems, we ensure the long-term availability and quality of water resources.
The event is an opportunity to reflect on what has been learned by the sector about the link between biodiversity action and water resilience during ongoing work to formulate a sector-wide biodiversity action and monitoring framework.
Key objectives include sharing good practice and progress towards a sectoral biodiversity framework, inviting stakeholder feedback, and inspiring collective action for strengthening water resilience and for biodiversity conservation.
The target audience for the event are private sector individuals responsible for sustainability and water management, environmental policymakers and regulators, conservation organisations and NGOs, academia and research institutions, and other stakeholders involved in water management and sustainability. The discussion will examine how progress in this area can be effectively measured, and how partnerships between the private sector, NGOs and regulators can help improve water resilience.
The event will feature an initial presentation from the sector and a nature conservation NGO on the ongoing work on a biodiversity framework and its relation to water stewardship. External experts will help provide broader perspective on the topic and urgency to act. Industry actors will share practical examples and reflect on the impact on water resilience.
After the presentations, there will be a moderated discussion to facilitate audience questions and collect feedback and recommendations from stakeholders.
Following the event, a summary document will be shared with participants covering the presentations, learnings and feedback recorded during the event.
