LIFE RESSKILL: Reskilling for the green transition – energy efficiency, renewables and green jobs in Europe

  • Training and workshops

Aligned with World Environment Day (5 June), this hybrid event organized in Valencia showcases the LIFE RESSKILL project and its contribution to the development of green skills that support investment in nature, nature restoration, and nature-based solutions within the clean energy transition.

The event highlights how energy efficiency and renewable energy systems, when combined with nature-based approaches (such as sustainable building design, circular resource use, and ecosystem-sensitive solutions), can contribute to a climate-neutral, resilient, and environmentally regenerative economy. It emphasizes the importance of reskilling and upskilling the workforce to enable investments that not only decarbonise the economy but also protect and restore natural ecosystems.

Organized in collaboration with project partners, including the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the event combines on-site participation at The Terminal Hub Valencia and online attendance, enabling broad stakeholder engagement.

The programme includes the presentation of educational tools and training programmes developed within LIFE RESSKILL, including micro-credentials available through the BoostMySkills platform. These programmes are designed to equip professionals with the skills needed to implement nature-positive solutions in the building and energy sectors, such as energy-efficient retrofitting, integration of renewable energy systems, and circular approaches that reduce environmental impact.

Special attention is given to vocational education and training, engaging students and educators in exploring career opportunities that contribute to both the green transition and the restoration of natural systems.

The event also features interactive sessions, demonstrations of innovative learning tools, and discussions on the skills required for jobs that directly support sustainable investment and nature-positive economic activities.

In addition, a dedicated session presents upcoming EU funding opportunities under the LIFE Programme, including strands that support climate action, circular economy, and environmental protection, with a focus on projects that contribute to nature restoration and sustainable resource management.

The event is aimed at a wide audience, including policymakers, public authorities, training providers, vocational education and training centres, students, industry representatives, SMEs, and stakeholders interested in sustainability, employment, innovation, and nature-based investment.
