Can caring for the environment begin in a classroom, on a school playground or during a group cycling trip? At the school, sports and arts complex in Radlin, students will discover that even small everyday actions can have a real impact on nature and air quality.
Organised under the motto ‘Plant an idea. Sow the future.’, the event will take the form of a week of environmental activities combining education, practical action and cooperation within the entire school community. The programme highlights that investing in nature begins with knowledge, responsible choices and collective engagement, showing how local actions contribute to a broader environmental transformation.
A key element of the event will be environmental workshops for fifth-grade students, as well as educational activities within the after-school programme. During these sessions, children will explore topics related to environmental protection, clean air and the role of greenery in everyday surroundings. A special workshop, ‘The great replanting – why do peace lilies improve our well-being in the classroom?’, will show how plants influence indoor air quality, microclimate and well-being. Joint planting activities will become an opportunity to reflect on the importance of greenery in daily life.
The programme will also include a plant exchange, allowing students, teachers and local residents to share plants they have grown. This initiative will help plants find new homes while encouraging the exchange of knowledge and experience in plant care, strengthening local cooperation.
Another important element will be a community clean-up of the area around the school, demonstrating how collective action can improve public spaces and environmental quality. In addition, students will take part in a mini cycling rally promoting physical activity and encouraging bicycles as an environmentally friendly mode of transport.
The week of activities shows that investing in nature starts with simple actions embedded in everyday school life, building awareness that everyone can contribute to protecting the environment.
The event is implemented as part of the project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored’.
