The EU Green Deal, inclusive of the FuelEU Maritime initiative, is steering maritime transport towards reduced greenhouse gas emissions, with the ultimate goal of a climate-neutral Europe by 2050.
The critical question is how to secure the necessary investments to achieve this transition. Who will take the lead? Do we have access to enough renewable energy to supply the shipping sector with renewable and low-carbon fuels? Are additional legislative adjustments required? How can public entities contribute? And are there adequate incentives for companies to select sustainable options?
