Description
The Climate Positive Europe Alliance AISBL (CPEA) is an independent Think and Do Tank based in Brussels. CPEA’s work follows a pan-European approach, building a bridge between policy and practice.
Our member organisations’ members include local authorities and urban districts who often find themselves in the front line of extreme weather events. Floods are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change and have devastating effects, especially in cities where they destroy homes, livelihoods and critical infrastructure.
According to European Commission, since 1980, there have been almost 1500 flood events, 4300 flood related deaths and over €170 billion in economic damage. At the same time, cities are facing the challenge of water scarcity due to prolonged periods of drought causing local authorities to take draconic water saving measures, including the restriction of water usage of citizens.
This one hour webinar organised in partnership with CPEA members is primarily targeted at built environment practitioners, such as architects, planners and project developers but also at local government representatives and real estate investors and insurers for whom risks arising from a failure to consider the need for strengthening water resilience both within cities and at asset level is going to gain more importance going forward also with a view to future Taxonomy alignment, the ability to secure green finance and due diligence reporting and disclosure.
Webinar participants will learn from water resilience experts about integrated water management strategies for dealing both with extreme rainfall events and water shortages in different climatic zones in the EU.
