How can economic development be reconciled with care for the natural environment? Is it possible to build a modern economy that at the same time protects the climate and improves air quality? During the workshop ‘Silesia breathes the future - my green adventure with the transition’, students will learn that the answer to these questions is the energy transition.
In the first part of the meeting, participants will learn about the process of change taking place in the energy sector in many European countries. They will find out why more and more countries are investing in renewable energy sources and how the development of clean technologies influences the functioning of the economy and the everyday lives of residents.
Students will also see examples of changes taking place in industrial regions that are developing new branches of the economy based on renewable energy and modern technologies. Thanks to this, they will understand that the energy transition is not only a matter of environmental protection but also an important element of economic development.
During the workshop, the topic of new professions of the future will also be discussed. Students will learn what skills may be needed in a world where technologies related to renewable energy and environmental protection play an increasingly important role.
The second part of the event will take the form of the educational board game ‘Clean energy’. Students, working in teams, will make decisions concerning energy investments, answer questions and solve tasks related to energy, climate and economic development.
The workshops show that the future of the economy and the environment are closely interconnected. Thanks to the knowledge they gain, students will see that each of us can have an influence on building a more sustainable future.
The event is implemented as part of the LIFE project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored’.
