Event objectives are to understand how EU environmental and climate policies are contributing to economic, sustainable and socially responsible growth in the EU and to find solutions for the sustainability transformation and accelerating the green transition in Eastern Finland within the nature-positive economy framework.
Key questions in the event: How to remove obstacles to promoting a nature-positive economy? What is currently the biggest practical obstacle to biodiversity-enhancing actions? What prevents nature-positive solutions from becoming the most profitable choice for companies? What prevents nature from being considered as part of comprehensive security – and what risks will this entail if the obstacles are not removed? What makes the nature-positive transition unfair from a regional perspective?
Questions are clarified in the event preliminaries and in dialogue, which concretises the questions.
The event will produce a set of key messages and policy recommendations highlighting:
- priority barriers to be addressed at EU level;
- opportunities to align biodiversity, economic development and security; and
- the role of regions in scaling nature-positive solutions.
These outcomes aim to contribute to ongoing EU policy discussions and support stronger collaboration between European regions.
Primary target audiences for the event are policymakers, researchers, business leaders and civil society organisations.
