Andras Krolopp is a senior biodiversity and nature finance expert with more than 25 years of professional experience spanning environmental policy, conservation, and sustainable finance. He is Head of Biodiversity Policy – Europe at The Nature Conservancy, where his work focuses on developing policy frameworks for nature protection and restoration, primarily in the freshwater context. This includes shaping enabling financing frameworks that can mobilise capital at scale for nature, with a particular emphasis on biodiversity credits and high integrity nature markets.
His work contributes to the implementation of key European frameworks, including the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the Nature Restoration Regulation, with a strong focus on translating policy ambition into credible mechanisms that deliver measurable ecological outcomes. Beyond the EU policy arena, he is also engaged at the global level, contributing to discussions under the Convention on Biological Diversity, particularly on habitat protection and restoration, as well as finance and resource mobilisation.
