Fanny Lacroix is the mayor of Châtel-en-Trièves, in the Isère department, and vice-president of the French Association of Rural Mayors. It was in this small village in the south of France, where she settled in 2014, that she was able to participate in the implementation of a rural revitalization policy based on citizen mobilization. Her story inspired the film "Les petites victoires" (Small Victories), directed by Mélanie Auffret, which recounts the busy daily life of a young mayor of a rural community and which garnered one million viewers.
For Fanny Lacroix, the ecological transition begins at the village level. The municipal scale is relevant because it's close to the people. We know that the success of the ecological transition will largely depend on our communities. Inspired by her grassroots commitment, she led a major ecological transition workshop with 100 volunteer mayors, raising awareness of the climate emergency and integrating them into the political debate. The goal public policies adapted to local realities and citizen involvement.
Fanny Lacroix recently graduated from Sciences Po Paris as part of the Academy of Territories programme. She graduated top of her class in the first cohort of the "Being a Decision-Maker in a Time of Transition" programme thanks to her project, "Eating Well Together in Châtel-en-Trièves."
