Head of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

Oleg BONDARENKO

Oleg BONDARENKO (born in 1975 in Kharkiv, Ukraine) is a Head of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine.

In 1997 Oleg graduated in law from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law Academy of Ukraine. From 1997 to 2019 he was an owner and director of several law companies specialising in corporate and ecological litigations.

In 2019 Oleg Bondarenko was appointed as a Head of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management. The Committee develops laws in the following areas: environmental safety and nature management, radiation and fire safety, civil protection, monitoring of the environment, climate change prevention, etc.

Thanks to the fruitful work of the Committee in 2022 (at the time of Russian war against Ukraine) several important Ukrainian Laws were adopted in line with EU Directives, for instance, the Law on Waste Management, on Chemical Safety and Management of Chemical Products and on the improvement of legislation in the field of Subsoil Useo

Currently, the Committee is considering a number of crucial draft laws, for example, on Prevention and Control of Industrial Pollution, on Packaging and Packaging Waste, on Waste From the Extractive Industries, on the Climate Fund, on State Environmental Control.

Oleg Bondarenko was named one of the biggest reformers of 2022 (6th place in the top 12 ranking of the reformers among deputies of Parliament).
