2nd family cycling rally around the municipality of Woźniki 'Under the blue sky'

  • Conferences and summits

Can a shared cycling trip also become a lesson in history, ecology and responsible economic choices? During the 2nd family cycling rally around the municipality of Woźniki 'Under the blue sky', participants will discover how outdoor recreation can be combined with environmental education and reflection on sustainable local development.

The rally is addressed to families, groups of friends, residents and visitors. Its recreational and community-building character will be complemented by a route leading through picturesque areas of the municipality, allowing participants to explore its natural and tourist assets — while deepening their connection to and appreciation of the local natural environment.

This year's edition coincides with the National Day of the Silesian Uprisings, adding a historical dimension to the event. Along the route, participants will learn about sites connected with this important chapter of regional history, including the Palace in Czarny Las. In this way, the rally combines environmental awareness with the discovery of local cultural heritage, showing how the protection of natural landscapes and the preservation of cultural identity go hand in hand.

Participants will also receive information about air quality and actions supporting its improvement. The event highlights that choosing a bicycle as a means of transport is one of the simplest ways to reduce emissions and contribute to a low-emission economy — a small but meaningful individual investment in cleaner air and healthier natural surroundings.

In this context, the bicycle becomes a symbol of everyday choices that influence both the environment and the economy. The development of cycling infrastructure, active tourism and sustainable mobility supports local economies, improves quality of life and reduces the environmental impact of transport.

At the start and finish area, a family eco-picnic will be organised, featuring educational and information stands. Participants will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the State Forests, the Beekeepers' Association in Woźniki and institutions presenting programmes that support energy efficiency improvements in buildings, including the 'Clean air' programme. These encounters offer direct insight into how public, community and knowledge-based investment in nature translates into concrete local outcomes for both people and ecosystems.

The event demonstrates that building an economy in harmony with nature begins with local initiatives, shared experiences and conscious everyday choices. By bringing citizens together around sustainable mobility, clean air and the stewardship of natural landscapes, the rally embodies what it means to invest in nature at the community level.

The event is implemented as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.

Host: Sylwester Witkowski, eco-manager of the Woźniki Municipality.
