Art competition ‘Green future. My city in 10 years’

  • Conferences and summits

What might a city of the future look like if economic development goes hand in hand with environmental protection? This question will be explored by primary school students in Żory participating in the environmental art competition ‘Green future. My city in 10 Years’.

The aim of the competition is to encourage young residents to imagine how cities could evolve if local governments, residents and businesses jointly developed an environmentally friendly economy based on responsible use of resources, innovative energy solutions and modern approaches to urban planning.

Participants will prepare a poster or a model presenting their vision of Żory over the next ten years. The projects may illustrate various solutions that support both the environment and the quality of life of residents, such as the development of renewable energy sources, green urban infrastructure, environmentally friendly transport systems, improved energy efficiency of buildings or modern waste management systems in line with the principles of the circular economy.

The competition is divided into three age categories: grades I–III, grades IV–VI and grades VII–VIII. This structure allows both younger and older students to present their ideas in a form appropriate to their age and perspective.

The initiative has both an educational and creative character. While working on their projects, students will reflect on how today’s decisions related to energy, transport, resource management and spatial planning influence the future of cities. The competition demonstrates that economic development can support environmental protection and that investing in nature also means investing in public health, quality of life and the future of the local community.

The best works will be awarded during a prize ceremony, which will also provide an opportunity to present the young generation’s visions for the city’s green transformation.

The event is implemented as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
