Description
Canale Reale Green Festival wants to spread first of all knowledge about the water-body itself, considering that, unfortunately, in Apulia Region there are few rivers and these rivers are substantially invisible to the eyes of people who live close to them, because of their temporary hydrologic character. Besides that, a great importance is given to the explanation of how water-cycle works in Apulia and how Canale Reale is involved.
The event is organized by Apulia Region, the manager of the Canale Reale River Contract (CRRC), which is an instrument of water governance; the event is organized together with other partners of the Contract itself: Province of Brindisi, Torre Guaceto Consortium and Polytechnic University of Bari are involved in the organising committee, and a lot of other CRCC subscribers have voluntary proposed their own events, later included in the Festival program.
Target people are students above all, but we wish to captivate local citizenship too. Proposed events are excursions and laboratories to let to learn everybody, above all children and kids, which are the naturalistic and architectural beauties along the river and how to take care of them. A kick off institutional meeting is proposed to explain what river contracts are and how the idea of dedicate one of them to Canale Reale was born.
More convivial moments are programmed to let people socialize and exchange ideas, allowing themselves to be positively influenced by other people and by the territory beauty. Therefore, the goal of the Festival is to attract target people’s interest on the topics of water saving and recycling, water quality and quantity, in particular in a dry Region such as Apulia, climate changes impacts on daily life, sustainability of the territory use and on the taking care of the environment where people live, in order to make the world a more comfortable place.
