What does environmental protection look like in practice? During the Chorzów Environment Protection Day, primary school students will have the opportunity to find out for themselves by participating in workshops and educational activities organised in a unique location, the Municipal Selective Waste Collection Point at Kaliny Street in Chorzów.
This facility, which on a daily basis demonstrates the importance of responsible waste management, will transform for two days into an open space for environmental education. Students from grades 4–6 will take part in interactive sessions designed to show how everyday decisions influence the environment and why caring for nature is an investment in the future of our cities and communities.
The programme will include workshops and activities focusing on key environmental challenges faced by modern cities. Participants will learn how to protect clean air, why it is important to safeguard water resources and how proper waste separation helps reduce waste and enables the reuse of valuable materials.
A central part of the programme will focus on recycling and the circular economy. Students will discover that many materials can be reused and that responsible resource management helps reduce pressure on the environment. Through these activities, young participants will understand that even small everyday actions - such as properly separating waste or reducing resource consumption - have a real impact on protecting nature.
The event is organised in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology, whose experts will support the educational programme by presenting scientific and technological aspects of environmental protection. Students will see how modern knowledge and innovation play an essential role in building a more sustainable economy and improving quality of life in cities.
The Chorzów Environment Protection Day combines education, practical experience and inspiration for action. Young participants will discover that investing in nature begins with knowledge and conscious choices, and that the future of the environment depends on the decisions made by each of us.
The event is organised as part of the project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored’.
