Description
This activity aims to teach participants the basics of the circular economy concept and demonstrate how they can apply this understanding in their daily lives. By explaining the differences between circular economy and linear economy, the activity promotes efficient use of resources and the reuse of waste. Participants will learn how to reuse, recycle, and reintroduce waste into production processes. Key topics such as biogas production from organic waste and the recycling of plastics will be introduced, turning waste into valuable resources.
The event also focuses on raising social awareness about waste management and circular economy principles. In addition, a session titled 'Fashion and circularity: designs, systems, and criticisms' will explore how to design sustainable fashion, introduce circular fashion systems, and critically evaluate their role in the fashion industry. Participants will learn the fundamental principles of circular design and understand how it contributes to positive changes in the fashion industry. The event seeks to challenge the culture of over-consumption and promote sustainable shopping habits and the slow fashion movement.
Participants will be educated on the environmental impacts of fashion and discover sustainable solutions to mitigate these impacts, such as recyclable materials and eco-friendly production methods. The goal is to raise awareness about the environmental footprint of fashion and encourage participants to engage in sustainable fashion trends.
The event will be reinforced with 'sustainable dialogues' presentations and energising sessions, along with practical workshops like composting and scarf making, based on the motto 'don’t buy, make your own.' These workshops aim to raise awareness of the circular economy and sustainable fashion while encouraging networking through icebreakers and interactive activities.
