Description
The workshop on circular solutions in horticulture aims to address how innovative circular solutions contribute to growers' efficient operations, ensuring sustainable food production in Europe. With a focus on sustainable practices and technological advancements, the workshop is set to bring together food industry experts, researchers, policymakers, and farmers to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and foster collaboration within horticulture across all member states.
Objectives of the event:
- Identify current challenges and opportunities for circularity practices with a focus on Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA);
- Explore innovative technologies and methodologies for optimising circularity in CEA;
- Discuss policy frameworks and regulatory measures to promote sustainable circular solutions in the agricultural sector and food production;- Share successful case studies in the EU and beyond;
- Foster networking and collaboration among stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and capacity building.
Target audience: policymakers, including EC officials, MEPs, policy advisors of political groups, Ministries' officials, and officials working at the Permanent Representations to the EU, as well as journalists.
Event concept: it will be a 90-minute workshop with a panel discussion featuring representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU and/or the Polish/Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, and other stakeholders (business, industry associations, NGOs), hosted by Rose O’Donovan, editor of AGRA FACTS (tbc).
The event will be preceded by a light lunch or followed by drinks. The location will be at ACE events in Brussels.
