Description
The circular management of water resources and services must now interface with new European directives and regulations, and with climate crises affecting the entire planet. Numerous research, development and innovation projects have shown that technologies are at a good stage of maturity.
However, there are still few case studies and therefore long-term experiences do not support enough investment plans that can spread innovation for greater water resilience. To accelerate the transition, coordination between different actors in planning, programming and implementation is necessary.
This workshop will initially present the vision of WATER EUROPE and the global scenario of the International Water Association (IWA), following the recent conference in Shenzen (China).
Subsequently, case studies of urban-industrial symbiosis that have been active for more than 15 years and coordinated planning approaches for large river districts will be presented. Finally, based on a call for pitches, innovation actions and their views on how they will support the implementation of the new directives will be summarised.
