Description
"Tanzen und Malen für das Klima 2024" is an innovative event designed for EU Green Week 2024 by the NGO Onewater in partnership with the UN Ocean Decade Project called SOS-Somos OceanoS, focusing on mobilizing children, youth, and local communities against the backdrop of climate change in landlocked towns.
This unique afternoon event combines the joy of dance with the expressive power of art, inviting the public to participate in dance activities and collaborate on a large-scale mural painting.
Objective:
"Tanzen und Malen für das Klima" is an event designed to unite people of all ages through the universal and accessible languages of art and dance to encourage climate conversations and community-driven solutions in Burghausen (Germany).
Target Audience:
The event is tailored for children, youth, and the broader community. Educators, environmental activists, and local policymakers are also encouraged to participate, ensuring a wide-reaching dialogue on climate action.
Format (Activities span one day):
- Youth-Created Murals: Guided by local artists, children and youth aged 4 to 22 create a mural reflecting their views on climate change and their aspirations for a brighter future.
The culmination of this effort, the mural's inauguration, will be a highlight of the event, seamlessly integrating with the dance performance listed below to create a cohesive and impactful experience.
- Dance Performances: They will showcase local and visiting dance groups, using movement to express the emotional and physical impact of climate change.
- Keep Momentum: The mural will be positioned in a frequently visited area and it will serve as a beacon for reflection.
Additionally, a QR code placed near the mural offers passersby a gateway to dive deeper into the project's essence, detailing the creative process, the significance of the artwork, and highlights from the inauguration day.
This event is more than a call to action; it's a celebration of community strength and creativity in the face of climate adversity. By bringing together diverse voices through art and dance, we aim to create a lasting impact, inspiring participants to envision and work towards a sustainable future.
