Description
Chorzów will become a hub for environmental education and practical sustainability initiatives. 'Ecomission: PSZOK SORCIK in action!' is an interactive event for school children and young people, hosted at the selective municipal waste collection point (PSZOK) SORCIK. The event aims to teach circular economy principles, proper waste management, and the impact of waste on air quality and ecosystems.
To ensure engaging learning experiences, high school students from III Liceum will take part as mentors, assisting younger participants and fostering peer learning.
The event will feature hands-on activities and expert-led sessions covering key environmental topics:
- Waste segregation workshops – practical sessions on proper waste sorting and the benefits of recycling within the circular economy framework.
- Meeting with an expert from the Silesian University of Technology – discussion on innovative waste management solutions, the role of modern technologies in recycling, and the impact of consumer behaviour on the environment.
- Open-air ecological cinema – screening of a documentary on plastic recycling, illustrating the journey of waste and various methods of reusing materials.
- 'Air & forests' field game – an interactive activity that educates participants on how waste management and air pollution affect forests and biodiversity.
'Ecomission: PSZOK SORCIK in action!' not only provides theoretical knowledge but also actively involves participants in hands-on environmental action. The event highlights the importance of responsible consumption, waste reduction, and the impact of waste on air quality, encouraging young people to adopt sustainable habits in daily life. This event is organised as part of the LIFE project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored.'
