Description
The international workshop of the EMPEREST project will focus on technical solutions for micropollutants’ removal. It will take place in Gdansk on 11 June 2024, bringing together stakeholders from the Baltic Sea Region and Polish experts in the discussions.
This workshop is targeted at experts in water utilities and relevant departments of local authorities, at the regional and national decision-makers and NGOs, also at researchers and companies working in the water sector. The workshop will introduce knowledge that is key for addressing the challenge of PFAS contamination present especially in water, but also considering human health.
Participants will learn about the technologies available for tackling this challenge, and will have a unique chance to network with international companies providing them. The program will include three thematic panels, exploring the subject through various contexts.
The first panel will focus on emerging micropollutants and related recent and upcoming regulations, necessitating the infrastructural upgrades of the wastewater treatment facilities within the next 20 years. The second panel will turn to monitoring of PFAS in water as well as an overview of available removal technologies.
The third panel will highlight the practical aspects: it will look into the recent studies and launch a networking village with the solution providers – companies from different BSR countries ready to supply technologies for micropollutants’ removal.
The EMPERST project is co-funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme.
