Description
The 'Enabling a fast-paced competitive twin transition of the construction sector through flexible product standardization pathways' event will create an interactive space where key stakeholders, including European Standardisation Organisations (ESOs), policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders, can collaborate on solutions for innovative and sustainable construction products. The session will highlight the pivotal role of standardisation in accelerating the twin transition (green and digital) in the construction sector, addressing key challenges in legislation, market adoption, and technical innovation.
A key feature of the event will be the presentation of the AFCOS Whitepaper, a research-based guideline designed to provide actionable insights. Through engaging discussions and interactive tools such as Slido and Kahoot, participants will explore new standardisation pathways that enable the green and digital transformation of the construction sector.
The event aims to address specific challenges in legislation, standardisation, and market adoption, offering clear recommendations for stakeholders while strengthening partnerships between standardisation bodies, innovators, and policymakers. It will actively involve ESOs and industry leaders through real-time survey-based activities, ensuring concrete engagement and fostering the co-creation of new approaches.
The session will begin with an interactive live quiz to introduce key challenges in sustainable construction and standardisation, followed by panel discussions featuring representatives from CEN/CENELEC, AFCOS project partners, the Committee of the Regions, and industry experts, who will explore the role of standards in Europe’s green transition and discuss innovative standardisation pathways.
The event will conclude with a networking session, providing an informal setting to foster partnerships and collaboration opportunities. This event is expected to host approximately 20 attendees in a half-day session to ensure a highly interactive and collaborative format. It represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of construction standardisation, contribute to EU sustainability goals, and engage with key players in the field.
