Environmental knowledge competition ‘Green future’

  • Conferences and summits

How do everyday decisions made by residents influence the environment, the climate and the way the modern economy functions? The environmental knowledge contest ‘Green future’ invites residents of the Municipality of Wyry to test their understanding of key environmental challenges and the solutions that help build a more nature-friendly economy.

The contest will take the form of an online knowledge test, allowing residents to participate in a convenient way without leaving their homes. The event is open to both young people aged 8 and above and adult residents of the municipality who would like to check their knowledge while expanding their environmental awareness.

Contest questions will focus on topics related to climate change, renewable energy sources, recycling and waste management. Participants will address issues such as the greenhouse effect, the role of solar and wind energy in the energy transition and the principles of proper waste segregation.

An important part of the contest will also be the introduction of the circular economy concept, which aims to reduce the consumption of raw materials, promote the reuse of products and develop effective recycling systems. Participants will learn that responsible resource management is a key element of a modern economy and an important tool for protecting the climate and the environment.

The contest has an educational and awareness-raising character. Its goal is not only to test participants’ knowledge but also to demonstrate how everyday consumer choices, energy use and proper waste management influence the environment and the functioning of the economy at both local and global levels.

Organisers emphasise that even small actions - saving energy, choosing low-emission transport or using reusable products - can meaningfully support the development of a more sustainable economy while improving air quality and protecting natural resources.

The ‘Green future’ contest shows that investing in nature begins with knowledge and awareness among residents. Environmental education remains one of the most important elements in building a future where economic development goes hand in hand with care for the environment and the climate.

The event is implemented as part of the project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored’.

Host: Halina Płoneczka, eco-manager of the Wyry Municipality.
