The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), Europe's largest awareness campaign on waste prevention, will hold its EWWR 2025 Awards Ceremony on 4 June at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels. This edition focuses on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), promoting reduce, repair and reuse actions across all stakeholder groups.
The annual ceremony recognises the most outstanding actions carried out during each EWWR edition. A jury of European environmental experts awards the five best initiatives across five categories: public administration, business and industry, associations and non-governmental organisations, educational institutions and citizens.
The ceremony opens with a session featuring contributions from Zero Waste Europe, the E6 project and the European Waste Management Association (FEAD), and introduces the 2026 thematic focus: material sufficiency. The link to investing in nature is direct — every device repaired rather than replaced, every piece of equipment reused rather than discarded, means less mining, less land take and less ecosystem degradation. Reducing demand for new materials is one of the most tangible ways to reduce pressure on the natural systems that produce them.
The awards presentation is followed by time for networking, exchange and inspiration, celebrating a shared commitment to a less wasteful and more nature-positive world.
