Can the future of the environment be 'unlocked'? During the outdoor ecological game 'Invest in nature - 4 keys to a green future', participants will discover that the key to change lies in knowledge, awareness and everyday choices. Organised as part of EU Green Week in Mierzęcice, the event combines environmental education with elements of gamification, reflecting this year's theme: an economy in harmony with nature.
Participants, acting individually or in family teams, will embark on a symbolic journey through four challenge zones. Each of them refers to key aspects of today's environmental and economic transformation, demonstrating that responsible resource management is the foundation of sustainable development and that investing in nature — through knowledge, behaviour change and community engagement — generates lasting returns for people and ecosystems alike.
The first stage focuses on awareness, where creative tasks help participants understand biodiversity, ecological interdependencies and the impact of human activity on nature. By building this foundational understanding, the stage highlights why protecting and restoring biodiversity is one of the most valuable investments a society can make. The next challenge centres on responsible choices, showing in practice how proper waste segregation and waste reduction contribute to the circular economy and help preserve the natural resources that functioning ecosystems depend on.
Participants will then face the knowledge challenge, exploring the links between air quality, energy and everyday habits. Here, they will see how individual actions affect both public health and the condition of the environment, and how smarter energy and consumption choices represent a direct contribution to the health of the natural world. The final stage focuses on building lasting habits that support the protection of natural resources such as water, soil and energy — the very foundations of a nature-positive economy.
Each challenge is short and dynamic, allowing participants to join the game at any time and complete all stages at their own pace. Collecting the four 'keys' becomes not only a fun activity, but also a symbol of gaining the competencies needed to build a more sustainable future and to act as informed, engaged investors in the health of the natural environment.
The event demonstrates that ecological transformation begins with simple, everyday decisions, and that investing in nature also means investing in economic development and quality of life. The game creates a space for shared experience, learning and raising awareness that everyone can have a real impact on the future of their surroundings — and that citizen-level investment in nature, multiplied across communities, is a powerful driver of systemic change.
The event is implemented as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
