Green Inspirations on the Odra River: eco picnic at Baranowice Palace

  • Conferences and summits

Can a local festival become a space for discussing the future of the environment and a nature-friendly economy? During the event 'Green inspirations on the Odra River. Eco picnic at Baranowice Palace', residents of Żory and the Upper Odra region will explore how everyday actions and decisions influence the environment and quality of life in cities.

The eco-picnic will take place on the grounds of Baranowice Palace as part of the Upper Odra Festival, creating a welcoming space for meetings, conversations and environmental education in a family-friendly atmosphere.

A key element of the programme will be environmental workshops introducing participants to the principles of sustainable development, proper waste segregation and the role of biodiversity in urban areas. The activities will show how responsible resource management and the circular economy can support environmental protection and improve residents’ quality of life.

A dedicated educational zone for children will offer outdoor games, creative workshops and activities focused on exploring nature. Participants will build insect hotels supporting pollinators and biodiversity, plant greenery and learn simple ways to create environmentally friendly spaces at home and in their surroundings.

Visitors will also be able to join the 'Adopt a plant' initiative, receiving plant seedlings in exchange for correctly answering questions in an environmental quiz. The activity encourages residents to introduce more greenery into their gardens, balconies and neighbourhoods.

The eco-picnic will provide an opportunity for residents to meet, integrate and discover the importance of nature for modern cities. It highlights that biodiversity, green infrastructure and responsible resource use are key elements of an economy that works in harmony with the environment.

'Green Inspirations on the Odra River' shows that caring for nature begins with knowledge, cooperation and everyday decisions that have a real impact on air quality and the future of our cities.
The event is implemented as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.

Host: Beata Naguszewska, Head of Pałac Baranowice.

Facilitator: Joanna Szerzyńska-Grabowska, eco-manager of the Żory Municipality.
