This series of events, organised under the LIFE DREAM CITIES project, will focus on strengthening climate adaptation and environmental awareness as essential drivers of a nature-positive economy in Małopolska. Through a combination of a high-level conference, educational activities, and local outreach initiatives, the programme will engage diverse stakeholder groups in demonstrating how investing in nature and climate resilience safeguards regional prosperity, public wellbeing, and long-term economic competitiveness.
The main conference will bring together representatives of public administration, research institutions, and cities to discuss key European and national frameworks for urban climate adaptation. Particular emphasis will be placed on the economic, environmental, and social value generated through investment in resilient natural systems and adaptation measures. Topics will include the new system for Urban Climate Adaptation Planning, EU Missions on Climate Adaptation and Climate-Neutral Cities, and the role of these frameworks in mobilising sustainable finance, supporting nature-based solutions, and strengthening long-term territorial resilience. The format will include expert presentations, discussions on nature-positive urban investments and ecosystem services, followed by Q&A sessions and networking opportunities.
In parallel, a series of online lessons for students will strengthen climate literacy and raise awareness of the role that healthy ecosystems and sustainable development play in building future-proof economies and communities. Additionally, Advisors on Climate and Environment across Małopolska will organise local events showcasing concrete examples of nature-positive investments — including local water retention measures, urban greenery, and ecosystem restoration initiatives — and their direct environmental, social, and economic benefits for local communities.
The overall objective is to foster knowledge exchange and demonstrate that investing in nature and climate resilience is not only essential for environmental protection, but also a strategic lever for regional development, innovation, and competitiveness. The target audience includes local authorities, policymakers, urban planners, investors, educators, and the general public.
