Can investing in nature become an adventure filled with movement, puzzles and discovery of local landscapes? Participants in the Municipality of Herby will find out during the second edition of the ecological outdoor game ‘Herby in the game 2.0: invest in nature!’
Organised as part of the European Green Week 2026, the event demonstrates that building a nature-friendly economy does not always require large financial investments. Sometimes the most important resources are knowledge, time and everyday decisions that influence the environment and the quality of life of local communities.
Participants follow a cycling route across the Municipality of Herby, where a series of ecological missions and challenges await them at different checkpoints. Each task focuses on a different aspect of investing in nature – from protecting biodiversity and understanding water retention to recognising the role of local ecosystems in improving air quality and climate resilience.
During the game, participants solve puzzles, carry out observation tasks and collect clues leading to the final solution. Through these activities, they learn how nature functions in their immediate surroundings and how everyday actions by residents can support environmental protection. Initiatives like this demonstrate that investing in nature also means protecting local natural resources and building environmental awareness within the community.
The game has a family-friendly and integrative format, allowing residents of different ages to take part. It offers an opportunity to spend time actively outdoors, enjoy shared experiences and discover the natural values of the municipality.
The event concludes with a community bonfire, where participants gather to summarise the game, exchange impressions from the ecological missions and celebrate the shared adventure.
‘Herby in the game 2.0: invest in nature!’ shows that investing in nature begins with the engagement of local residents and care for the environment closest to us. Small actions, repeated across the community, can have a real impact on environmental quality and help create a greener and healthier place to live.
The event is organised as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
Hosts: Cezary Olchawa and Agnieszka Bujok, subregional eco-managers of the Association of Municipalities and Counties of the Central Subregion of the Silesian Voivodeship.
