Description
Movement, competition, and ecology - these three elements will come together in the cycling city game 'Herby in the game! Recycling and ecology in action!', organised as part of the Central Subregion initiative in cooperation with the Herby municipality. The event promotes an active lifestyle, environmental education, and the practical application of circular economy principles in an engaging and interactive way.
Participants, either individually or in teams (patrols) under adult supervision, will set off on a route mapped out across the town. Equipped with maps, they must locate designated checkpoints and solve tasks related to recycling, waste segregation, resource management, and air quality. Each correctly completed challenge will bring them closer to discovering the key message of the game.
The challenges along the route will not only test participants’ knowledge but also highlight practical ways to apply circular economy principles, such as reusing materials, repairing items, and making conscious consumer choices. Participants will also learn how emissions resulting from poor waste management impact air quality and public health.
The event will conclude in the evening with a bonfire, inflatable playgrounds, refreshments, and a lecture on EU Green Week and its values. This will provide an opportunity to recap the game, integrate participants, and discuss how everyday actions contribute to environmental protection.
'Herby in the game!' is not just about sports and competition. It is a hands-on ecological lesson in motion, inspiring change and teaching that caring for the planet begins with simple actions taken every day.
This event is organised as part of the LIFE project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored.'
