Companies are dependent on biodiversity. At the same time, economic activities have a wide range of impacts on biodiversity.
Incentive schemes are an important lever for advancing biodiversity in agricultural supply chains. They offer companies a structured tool for integrating biodiversity into their procurement strategies, strengthening supplier relationships, improving supply chain resilience and supporting a credible sustainability positioning.
By linking environmental protection measures with economic incentives, incentives provide a practical way to support farmers and suppliers in implementing and maintaining measures that promote ecosystems, soil health and biodiversity, whilst remaining economically viable.
The design of such programmes requires a series of carefully considered strategic decisions.
In this event, we will examine key decision areas - from financing and payment mechanisms to participation rules, monitoring and communication - which together determine how an incentive programme operates in practice.
