How can EU policy, research funding and development cooperation better support investing in agricultural biodiversity globally, and what does the evidence say about the returns?
This open dialogue, organised by the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT with AgriCord, Impact House and Clim-Eat, brings together EU policymakers, researchers, development practitioners, businesses and civil society to share knowledge and explore how investing in nature through agricultural biodiversity can contribute to a more resilient, competitive and nature positive economy.
The Alliance will present findings from its global research programme across Africa, Asia and Latin America and facilitate a structured dialogue on the opportunities and barriers ahead.
Key questions for open discussion:
- What does the evidence show about the returns on investing in agricultural biodiversity for farmers, communities and ecosystems?
- How can EU instruments such as Farm to Fork, the Nature Restoration Law, development cooperation and research funding better support nature investment in food systems?
- What role can different sectors such as research, finance, civil society and business play in scaling nature positive approaches?
- What can we learn from experiences in the Global South that is relevant for Europe?
A concise Alliance briefing note on agricultural biodiversity and investing in nature will be shared with all participants.
This event is part of EU Green Week 2026 and contributes to the theme of investing in nature.
Free and open to all interested participants, pre registration encouraged.
Organised by the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT in partnership with AgriCord and Clim-Eat.
