Investments for protecting and restoring nature in the Bucharest–Ilfov region

  • Conferences and summits

The Bucharest-Ilfov region is taking decisive steps toward a sustainable future. As part of the EU Green Week 2026 campaign, the Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency (ADRBI) is hosting a specialised event focused on green infrastructure and biodiversity investments funded through the Regional Programme (PR BI) 2021–2027.

This event highlights how regional funds are being transformed into tangible green solutions. From urban parks to restored ecosystems, the initiative showcases how European policies support the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable environment.

The event aims to highlight the vital role of nature investments in protecting and restoring regional ecosystems; showcase 10 signature projects (6 in Ilfov County and 4 in Bucharest) funded under the PR BI 2021–2027 framework; and encourage the younger generation to participate in policy-making and use EU funds as a resource for green development.

Event logistics:

Location: Bucharest Botanical Garden, Administrative Building (Room P04, Wing B); target audience: 30 young representatives from beneficiary communities (Bucharest, Pantelimon, Bragadiru, Chitila, Voluntari) and a wider digital audience via social media; and event format: a technical conference followed by an immersive guided tour of the Botanical Garden and its greenhouses.

The event is a core component of the ADRBI 2021–2027 Communication Plan and aligns with two major investment priorities:

  • Priority 3 ‘A Green Region’; ensuring environmental objectives (DNSH principle) are central to regional growth; and Priority 7 ‘An Attractive and Inclusive Region’; enhancing urban quality of life through Nature-Based Solutions.

The event is promoted via www.regiobucuresti-ilfov.ro
and ADRBI communication channels.
