How is the way energy is produced and used changing in homes, cities and municipalities? The educational campaign ‘June with Electricity’ demonstrates to residents of the Mszana municipality that the energy transition is already transforming everyday life — from heating and electricity consumption to mobility and local energy production — while also contributing to cleaner air, reduced emissions and a more resilient, nature-positive future.
Throughout the month, educational content is published in local media, including the municipality’s social media channels, website and monthly magazine. The campaign explains key issues related to electrification and modern energy systems, corrects common misconceptions and presents practical solutions that residents can apply in their own homes. Particular emphasis is placed on how smarter and more efficient energy use can reduce environmental pressures, support climate goals and strengthen local energy resilience.
A central topic is heat pumps and their role in reducing dependence on fossil fuels and improving air quality. Residents learn how they work, what their real operating costs are and what to consider when choosing and installing them, including their use in older buildings. The campaign highlights how cleaner heating solutions contribute to healthier communities and help protect local natural resources.
The campaign also focuses on photovoltaics and energy storage as strategic investments in sustainable and decentralised energy systems. It explains what it means to become a prosumer, how to select the right installation size and how to manage energy efficiently. Residents also learn about energy cooperatives that support local energy generation, community resilience and more sustainable resource management.
Electric mobility is another important theme. Participants learn about the real costs and range of electric vehicles, as well as technologies such as V2H, V2L and V2G, which allow vehicles to function as mobile energy sources and contribute to more flexible and efficient energy systems.
The programme further introduces smart energy management, including energy consumption profiles, smart meters and tariffs that help optimise energy use and reduce unnecessary energy waste.
An open meeting with an expert provides practical guidance and an opportunity to ask questions. Educational activities are also organised in local schools, helping young people understand how the energy system is evolving and how sustainable energy choices contribute to environmental protection and long-term community wellbeing.
The campaign demonstrates that informed investment and decision-making in the energy sector are essential not only for household savings and energy security, but also for supporting the transition towards a cleaner, healthier and more nature-positive economy.
The event is implemented as part of the project ‘Silesia. Blue Sky Restored’.
