Description
During the event, around 40 PhD students will describe their research and the impact on society, environment and industry, with a series of 3-minutes pitches.
The focus will be on research and innovation activities supporting water resilience in the context of climate crisis and the evolving role of agriculture and food industry. The topic is especially relevant in Italy and in the Emilia Romagna region, hit by severe droughts during 2022 and 2023, followed by excessive rain events causing flooding and landslides in 2023. The department has a strong focus on the topic thanks to dedicated thematic groups, two rounds of ministry excellent department projects leading among others, to the establishment of a PhD curricula on the water-agriculture-food-energy nexus, and a number of ongoing projects in the field, including H2020, HEU, PRIMA and local projects.
The target audience is the general public, industry, researchers, policy makers, professionals and practitioners, as well as other PhD, master and bachelor students.
The event is composed of three sections, each one taking place on one campus of the department (Bologna, Imola, Cesena) and organised in hybrid format in such a way to allow wider participation. Some of the pitches will be given by students abroad for internships in other research institutions or companies.
