LIFE RESSKILL Bootcamp I: Urban Decarbonisation and Smart Cities

  • Training and workshops

The RESSKILL Bootcamp on Decarbonisation, Energy Transition and Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems (HRES) is a practical training event organised within the framework of the EU-funded LIFE RESSKILL project. The bootcamp aims to equip students, researchers and professionals with the knowledge and green skills needed to support Europe’s transition towards a more sustainable, resilient and climate-neutral future.

Aligned with the theme of EU Green Week 2026, “Invest in Nature”, the event highlights the essential connection between clean energy solutions and the protection of natural resources. Participants will explore how decarbonisation, renewable energy deployment and sustainable energy systems can contribute not only to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also to preserving ecosystems, enhancing climate resilience and supporting a more balanced relationship between human activities and the environment.

Through expert-led sessions, collaborative learning activities and practical demonstrations, participants will gain insights into Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems (HRES), innovative technologies for clean energy generation, and data-driven approaches to energy management. The programme will showcase how investments in sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy can generate environmental, social and economic benefits while reducing pressure on natural ecosystems.

The bootcamp will also examine the broader European context of the energy transition, including climate objectives, local and regional decarbonisation strategies, and the growing demand for green skills. Particular attention will be given to the role of education and workforce development in enabling solutions that work in harmony with nature and contribute to the objectives of the European Green Deal.

As part of the LIFE RESSKILL initiative, the event supports the development of the skills ecosystem required to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy, improve energy efficiency and promote sustainable practices that help safeguard Europe’s natural capital for future generations.
