Description
Recognizing the suboptimal conditions of most European habitats, the European Union took a significant step in 2020 by adopting a Biodiversity Strategy, outlining a comprehensive set of commitments and initiatives designed to restore Europe's biodiversity by 2030.
Furthermore, the European Parliament has recently approved legislation dedicated to nature restoration, pledging to rehabilitate 20% of the European Union's land and sea. The endorsed EU nature restoration law aims to breathe new life into degraded ecosystems across member states, aligning with climate and biodiversity objectives while ensuring food security.
In parallel, in modern corporate practices, it is pivotal to acknowledge the profound importance of ecosystem restoration, biodiversity management, and water resilience. Ecosystem restoration not only aids in preserving biodiversity but also aligns with corporate objectives by cultivating sustainable and resilient environments. Crucial for businesses, ecosystem restoration and water management ensure sustainable practices, mitigate environmental risks, prevent disasters and bolster resilience, contributing to the long-term viability of corporations and responsible resource stewardship.
To achieve this, collaboration between businesses and relevant entities engaged in biodiversity efforts is essential for effective biodiversity management. Incorporating nature-based solutions into biodiversity management strategies allows companies to promote ecosystem restoration in their operational areas, with effective water management being a critical component.
The webinar is organised with the support of the Biodiversity Alliance, a multi-stakeholder initiative led by CSR Europe in collaboration with the Wildlife Habitat Council, gathering a group of selected industry leaders.
In a dialogue among the European Commission, international civil society organisations and businesses, this Partner session of the European Green Week 2024 aims to share key insights and best practices on the topic with an audience of sustainability experts from various sectors.
Specifically, the event welcomes participants including: CSR & Sustainability Managers; Supply Chain specialists; Facility and Operations Managers; Research and Development professionals; Biodiversity experts; Civil Society Organisations.
