The aim of the event is to present Eastern Finland's solutions in accelerating the nature-positive economy and to increase understanding of what these perspectives can bring to the EU's environmental, climate and regional policies.
The common goal is to promote economic, sustainable and socially responsible growth in the EU and to find solutions for sustainable change and the green transition within the framework of the nature-positive economy.
Key questions of the event:
- How to accelerate the nature-positive economy using the examples of Eastern Finland?
- What are the key elements to support equity in the green transition at the regional level?
- How do companies improve their results while taking into account the importance of biodiversity?
- How does the nature-positive economy support comprehensive security?
In addition, what are the current biggest practical obstacles to pioneering the nature-positive economy?
The questions will be clarified in the event’s preliminary presentations and dialogue, which will flesh out the questions.
The event will produce a set of key messages and policy recommendations, highlighting:
- EU-level solutions to support the potential of regions as pioneers of a nature-positive economy,
- the potential to link biodiversity, economic development and security, and
- the role of regional development in scaling up nature-positive solutions.
These outputs are intended to feed into ongoing EU policy debates and support stronger cooperation between European regions.
The event’s primary target groups are policymakers, researchers, business leaders and civil society organisations.
