Description

Aligned with the EU Green Week’s main theme, ONE-BLUE is an EU-funded project committed to fostering a circular economy. ONE-BLUE aims to investigate the impact of contaminants of emerging concern on marine biodiversity and biota. With this primary objective in mind, ONE-BLUE plans to transfer its results to improvements related to the blue economy, circular economy, and waste management.
This project will create ample opportunities for innovation in SMEs and industries related to IT, diagnostics, and analytics. The technologies developed in this project for forecasting, detection, and decision support will be further developed into commercial platforms. It will contribute directly to the European Circular Economy Action Plan through the sustainability assessment of the technologies and methodologies developed in the project and their life cycle analysis. Furthermore, the digital technologies developed in the project (DSS, GUI, and automated sensors) will facilitate a smart use of clean digital technologies, identified as key enablers for climate action.
Knowing about ONE-BLUE’s approach to the circular economy, our webinar's main contribution will be presenting the first ONE-BLUE policy recommendations and safety guidelines brief. These guidelines are a significant contribution to fostering ocean protection and circularity. Additionally, we will feature other EU-funded projects presenting their policy briefs on this issue. Finally, we expect to host policymakers to discuss the current challenges of how ocean policy can foster circularity.
The event will attract agents interested in learning about our project’s policy brief, ocean policy policymakers from diverse entities, and the general public interested in this field.
