Description

Animal by-products (ABPs) are an integral part of the EU agri-food value chain, contributing to nutrient recycling, soil health, and sustainable agriculture. However, regulatory challenges continue to limit their full potential in circular, bio-based solutions that support both environmental sustainability and agricultural competitiveness.
This interactive session, held as part of the EBIC Summit 2025, will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts to explore how the EU can unlock innovation by rethinking ABP regulations and enabling a more resource-efficient, circular agricultural system.
Objectives:
- Examine the role of ABPs in the circular economy and sustainable farming
- Identify regulatory barriers hindering innovation and market access for ABP-based products
- Discuss policy solutions to create a more innovation-friendly EU framework
- Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders to scale up sustainable ABP solutions
This session is aimed at:
- EU policymakers working on sustainability, circular economy, and agriculture
- Industry experts from agri-food, biostimulants, and fertiliser sectors
- Researchers and innovators developing circular solutions for ABPs
- Sustainability advocates and NGOs focused on resource efficiency
This joint problem-solving session will include:
- Expert insights from leading industry and policy figures
- Case studies showcasing successful ABP innovations
- Engaging discussions on regulatory opportunities and challenges
Confirmed speakers include:
- Aline Granjard, Policy Officer, European Compost Network (ECN)
- Arnaud Bouxin, Director for Feed Safety and Regulatory Affairs, European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC)
