Description
The Municipality of Wyry invites residents to take part in the "R as recycling - Giving waste a second life" photography competition, designed to promote the circular economy and the reuse of raw materials. This challenge is open to anyone who wishes to demonstrate how household waste can be transformed into useful or decorative objects.
The competition aims to highlight how many items we throw away could actually be repurposed with a little imagination. Participants are encouraged to create a three-dimensional piece using household waste such as glass jars, plastic bottles, cardboard or old clothes. Whether it’s a unique home decoration, a practical everyday object, or an entirely new invention – the only limit is creativity!
Once the project is complete, participants must photograph their creation and submit the image along with the required documents to the organiser. The best works will be showcased in the local government magazine Wicie, serving as inspiration for other residents to adopt a more conscious approach to waste and recycling.
The competition emphasises the importance of resource management, material reuse, and reducing landfill waste. Moreover, it raises awareness of air quality issues, underscoring that improper waste management—such as burning rubbish in home stoves—contributes to harmful emissions. It shows that recycling is not only about conserving resources, but also about reducing pollution that affects public health.
'R as recycling - Giving waste a second life' is an opportunity to combine creativity with environmental responsibility. Each participant becomes an ambassador of the circular economy, inspiring others to change their habits and adopt a more responsible approach to the materials around them.
This event is organised as part of the LIFE project "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored."
