Description
Case studies presented by Early Career Researchers from different disciplines and geographical areas, but brought together by a focus on water resilience, will be used to stimulate a discussion on how an interdisciplinary lens can produce benefits across tightly interlinked sectors.
The case studies will lead the audience through the practical aspects of water resilience building and how this interacts with such dimensions as human health, biodiversity conservation and climate action.
The case study will each analyse water resilience linkages with a different area and will underline how these can contribute to the achievement of EU and global objectives / targets / goals within the framework of the 2030 and 2050 development agendas.
A panel discussion will follow the presentation of these case studies. This panel discussion will serve to stimulate a meaningful discussion with the audience about the different ways water resilience can be approached and operationalised all while maximising synergies. The panel will also include Senior Researchers who can provide an overview of the potentialities of Early Career Researchers in this field but also some advice on how young people can enter the sector.
The main target audience is the youth but also practitioners and academicians who can use this interactive event that speaks to different disciplines as a source of inspiration and, possibly, spark the generation of new ideas or (academic) collaborations.
The objectives of the event are therefore multi-fold:
- Provide participants with a better understanding of what conducting research in water resilience and related sectors means in practical terms
- Raise awareness among participants of key EU actions/strategies contributing to water resilience (and other key objectives in the field of climate and biodiversity) in the EU and third countries
- Stimulate the emergence of ideas and opportunities for engagement in the sector of water resilience.
