This partner event explores how scientific knowledge can be effectively translated into decisions that support a nature-inclusive economy. Building on results from the SELINA project, the dialogue highlights how evidence from demonstration sites can inform policies, investments and planning processes across sectors.
The event focuses on the critical gap between knowledge generation and real-world application. Drawing on insights from SELINA’s work on evidence synthesis and demonstration projects, it showcases how scientific data, indicators and tools can be embedded into decision-making frameworks used by public authorities, businesses and practitioners. Particular attention is given to how nature-based approaches and ecosystem considerations can be integrated into economic strategies and development pathways.
The event aims to
- showcase real-life examples of how scientific evidence is used in decision-making contexts;
- discuss enabling conditions and barriers for integrating nature into economic and policy frameworks; and
- foster dialogue between researchers, policymakers and practitioners on scaling up nature-inclusive solutions.
The event is relevant for EU and national policymakers, local and regional authorities, environmental agencies, researchers, NGOs and private sector actors involved in sustainability, planning and investment. It also addresses initiatives working at the science-policy interface and those contributing to EU Green Deal objectives.
The event takes the form of an interactive policy dialogue combining short keynote inputs with a moderated panel discussion and audience engagement.
