Can the energy and environmental transition become a development opportunity for a region? The conference ‘Silesia breathes the future. Green transition in practice’ demonstrates that the Silesian Voivodeship is increasingly recognised as a leader of change connected with a modern economy, clean energy and improved environmental quality.
The event brings together around 200 participants, including representatives of partner municipalities, eco-managers, local authorities and invited experts. The meeting has a practical focus, presenting solutions that already support the green transition in cities and regions and showing how environmental goals can be aligned with economic development.
The conference is organised in a dynamic live television studio format. Instead of traditional presentations, the programme features moderated discussions, audience participation, questions from the floor and short interactive polls. The entire event is broadcast live online and recorded for further educational and communication purposes.
The programme includes four thematic sessions addressing key areas of the green transition. The first session focuses on designing cities that support health and the environment, highlighting the role of urban greenery, blue-green infrastructure and sustainable spatial planning.
The second session presents proven solutions for local governments, including actions to improve air quality, increase energy efficiency and support residents in adapting to the energy transition. The third session explores technologies supporting environmental management, such as air quality monitoring, data-driven decision-making and smart city tools.
The final session addresses environmental communication and social acceptance of change, focusing on building dialogue with residents, strengthening public trust and encouraging community engagement.
The conference demonstrates that the green transition is not only a strategy, but a set of practical actions already transforming cities, economies and local communities.
The event is implemented as part of the project 'Silesia. Blue Sky Restored'.
